​Susan E. Thering, 71, of Coleman, died Monday August 29, 2022 at Medilodge of Clare.  She was born August 18, 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio the daughter of the late Beeler & Marjorie (Strong) Higbee, Jr.  Susan E. Higbee married Lawrence G. Thering December 27, 1980.  He preceded her in death May 4, 2020. 
 
Sue was employed as a Middle School Teacher at Coleman Community Schools starting October 7, 1974 and retiring July 1, 2012.  She was instrumental in bringing girls softball into the community and was heavily involved in all school and community activities throughout her life.    Faith, Family and community were Sue’s top priority. 
 
Survivors include her children Michael & Jessica Thering, Michelle & Andrew Griswold, grandchildren: Lillian, Harold, Brian and Caitlin, brothers David & Janet Higbee, Kenneth & Cheryl Higbee, sisters Mary & Ed Nemer-Kaiser, Barbara & Bob Smith, several nieces and nephews.  Sue was also preceded in death by her brother Jim Higbee. 
 
Funeral and committal services for Sue will be held at 6:00 pm Thursday September 1, 2022 with Rev. Lisa Kelley officiating.  Burial will take place in the Warren Township Cemetery, Coleman.  Friends may call at the O’Laughlin Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday from 2-6 pm.  Memorials are suggested to the Coleman Board Scholars Program.
