Liveta Jeanette Rogers (Jean) of Mt. Pleasant, born September 14, 1940, sadly left us on March 10, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents (Garfield and Bertha Bailey), her brother (Ronald Bailey) and her granddaughter (Kayla Aultman). Jean is survived by her husband James, her children Anthony (Rona) Rogers, Cynthia (John) Lewis, Sandra (James) Horton, Steven (Jami) Rogers and Barbara Rogers (Micheal) Ward, thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Jean was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and was always willing to prepare one of her wonderful desserts for family gatherings. She loved to read, learn and be challenged by her word and number games. She attended Delta College and achieved an Associates Degree in Accounting.
Jean also loved to travel and was able to travel internationally to Australia, Europe, and Mexico, keeping detailed photo albums of her adventures. She also explored many areas in the United States with Jim in their fifth wheel.
Jean was an excellent seamstress and made beautiful, personalized quilts for all of her grandchildren, formal dresses for her children and grandchildren, as well as various other handmade gifts. She also spent lots of time in her flower gardens.
Jean was active in her community with participation in the Jaycees and the Red Hat Society. She also started Coleman’s inaugural girls’ softball league and held many different positions within her church.Jean will be remembered for her kind spirit, generosity and heartwarming smile by all of her family and friends.A funeral service is planned for Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 11 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Sanford. A viewing and visitation will take place at O’Laughlin Funeral Home in Coleman on Monday, March 13, 2023 from 5-8pm and at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of services.
