Norma Jean Brownlee, 96, of Coleman died Friday December 24, 2021, with her family by her side, at Coleman Fields Assisted Living. She was born in Flint November 18, 1925, the daughter of the late Claude & Hazel (Russ) Caster. Norma J. Caster married Virgil J. Brownlee June 22, 1946. He preceded her in death January 23, 2001.
Survivors include her sons Duane (Bonnie) Brownlee of Coleman, Thomas Brownlee & Allan Frederick of Florida, grandchildren, Heather (Danial) Murphy of Midland, Matthew (Rachel) Brownlee of Coleman, great-grandchildren: Aidan & Ryan Murphy, Spencer, Carter & Nora Brownlee. Also, her “adopted” son and daughter Roy and Roxy Smith and many friends and relatives. She was also preceded in death by her brother Ward Caster.
She and Virgil enjoyed camping and traveling with family and friends and spending winters in Florida. She was a good mother, grandmother and great grandmother and would check the newspapers daily to see, if someone made the sport section or other achievement. She especially liked to shop and took advantage of all of the sales flyers from the newspaper. She was an active member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Coleman and a life member of Coleman Chapter No. 281 Order of the Eastern Star.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am Saturday April 30, 2022 at the Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Marsh officiating. A luncheon will follow. Friends may call at the church on Saturday starting at 10 am until the time of services. Memorial donations may be given to Faith United Methodist Church, Coleman Fields Assisted Living or The Care Team Hospice.
