​JoMac Rydman, 85, of Coleman died Thursday December 14, 2023 at home, with her family by her side.  She was born October 27, 1938 in Saginaw the daughter of the late Eliot & Barbara (McClary) Cloud.
 
 She lived in Midland until the second grade, when her family moved to Coleman.  She graduated from Coleman High School in 1957.  JoMac Cloud married Lawrence A. Rydman November 1, 1957 in Coleman.  JoMac started her employment early: she worked at the Bungalow Restaurant from eighth grade through high school, then she was employed at the Coleman Elementary School until the birth of her first son, Kevin.   She served as the Cub Scout Treasurer, while her husband Al was a Cub Scout Master.  JoMac was always there cheering on her sons when they were playing sports.  She along with Carl Mowry and Bob Soldatt wrote the grant for Coleman’s first ambulance after the O’Laughlin’s retired from the ambulance service.  JoMac was in the first class of EMT’s for the Coleman Area Ambulance and volunteered until Midland County EMS took over the ambulance service.  She was employed by the City of Coleman as treasurer and then she became the city clerk, working for 28-1/2 years.  While working for the city, JoMac wrote grants for the City Park improvement, the down town streetscape.  She was a member of the Coleman Fire Dept. since 1974 and was named Coleman Firefighter of the year in 1998 and Midland County Firefighter of the year in 2013.  She was also honored by the Coleman Jaycees as Citizen of the Year.  JoMac served as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Coleman Area Ambulance Board, Secretary of the Planning Commission for several years, until she was appointed as a member of the Planning Commission, and of the City Council, where she was later elected in 2000 and 2004.  JoMac served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Coleman Area Building Dept. and retained that position after being appointed as a voting member in 1994.  She served as a Junior Achievement Advisor, was on the steering committee that in 1999 helped write a Recreation Plan, updated the Master Plan and in 2000 updated the zoning ordinances.    
 
Survivors include her sons: Kevin & Toni Rydman, Gregg Rydman, Brad & Stephanie Rydman, grandchildren: LaRisa Rydman, Tiffany Kellems, great-granddaughter Madison Lopez, sister Greer Thomson of Farwell, several nieces and nephews.  JoMac was also preceded in death by her husband, grandson Christopher Heath, brother Richard Cloud and sister Barbara Cloud. 
 
Friends may call at the O’Laughlin Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday December 17, 2023 from 2-6 pm and on Monday from 11am – 1 pm.  Funeral services will be private.  Burial will take place in the Warren Township Cemetery, Coleman.  Memorials are suggested to the Coleman Fire Department, PO Box 366, Coleman, MI  48618.
