Charles E. Dana, 88 of Coleman, died Saturday March 22, 2025 at Meridian Acres in Sanford. He was born July 24, 1936 in Midland County the son of the late Lawrence & Hilda (Rankey) Dana.
Charles E. Dana married Marilyn H. Funk March 15, 1969 in Coleman. She preceded him in death July 26, 2001. Charlie served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Dow Chemical Company in 2001 after 45 years of service. Charlie was active with Midland County 4-H, enjoyed gardening, reading, hunting, fishing and attending his grandkids athletic events.
Survivors include his daughters: Cathy & Curt Gordon of Coleman, Heather & Brian Dudley of Coleman, Shelly & Seth Gross of Coleman, grandchildren: Chancey Gordon, Chelsea & Ryan Filhart, Chase Gordon & Heather Bovee, Logan Dudley, Lexi, Alyssa, Bryce and Cole Aultman, great-grandchildren Tate and Nash Filhart, sisters Ruth Curtis of Midland, Esther Cadman of Sanford, Rose & Robert Carrow of Georgia, Jan & Oscar Hendrick of Colorado, Patricia & David Smithkey of Flushing, Rhoda & Paul “Joe” Toth of Coleman, many nieces and nephews. Charlie was also preceded in death by his brothers Donald and Merlin, sisters Mary Dana and Evelyn Vogel.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday March 26, 2025 at the Coleman Wesleyan Church with Rev. Scott Hayes officiating. Burial will be in the Warren Township Cemetery, Coleman. Friends may call at the O’Laughlin Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm and at the church on Wednesday starting at 10 am until the time of services. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Coleman Agriscience Program or the Coleman Athletic Boosters.
