Michael T. Lincoln, 65, of Midland died Thursday April 25, 2024 at MyMichigan Medical Center, Midland. It was a sunny day, with his family by his side. It was a good day to die.

He was born November 27, 1958 in Midland, the son of the late Thomas & Mary (Trombley) Lincoln. As a kid growing up in Midland, he enjoyed playing softball (a pastime that he enjoyed for decades, playing in his iconic blue jeans), listening to loud music, and driving fast cars. He first learned his carpentry skills from his father, at Lincoln Builders. Mike had a talent and love for building and creating beautiful spaces with his carpentry business up until the last months of his life.

His lifelong love of the outdoors began at an early age - riding motorcycles (eventually catching the eye of his future wife), boating, fishing, nature drives with “roadpops”, and especially times at the family cabin in Harrison. Many memories of deer camps, morel hunting, nature walks, creek fishing, campfires, and work weekends were made there and will continue for years to come.

Mike married his high school sweetheart Jill L. Cookenmaster on December 3, 1976 in Midland, recently celebrating 47 years of marriage. Together they raised two children and created a strong, close-knit family unit surrounded by laughter, sarcasm, and hard work. This family unit also included cousins, aunts and uncles, family dogs, and countless friends who would enjoy nights of volleyball games, karaoke, driveway basketball, and lively garage conversations.

Survivors include his wife Jill, son Tim & Jennifer Lincoln of Midland, daughter Amy & Brian Cunningham of Bay City, grandchildren: Kaitlyn Lincoln, Alayna Cunningham, Luke Cunningham, Wesley Cunningham, precious dog Lucy, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, clients and friends.

Mike had a strong moral compass and solid values that will live on through his children and grandchildren. He was loyal, trustworthy, and worked hard. Mike was a man of few words, big hugs, and even bigger opinions. His family and friends will share stories of him and laugh about his fashion choices (flannel shirts, blue jeans, and work boots) for generations to come.
A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, May 5 at 12pm at Mills Town Township Hall. Lunch will be provided. Please come and share your memories with everyone.

Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund.

The family would like to give a special appreciation to the nursing staff at MyMichigan Medical Center (especially Jordyn on Progressive Care Unit), Dr. Gayle Byker, and Pat’s Mike.
