Maxine May Strickland, 96, of Coleman died Friday January 24, 2025 at Brittany Manor in Midland. She was born in Saginaw June 23, 1928 in Saginaw the daughter of the late Ray & Bethel (Walter) Carlton.
Maxine M. Carlton married Peter I. Strickland September 1, 1946 in Coleman. He preceded her in death July 29, 2005. Maxine was employed as a mail carrier out of the Coleman Post Office retiring in 1993 after 15 years of service. She enjoyed spending time at the Coleman Senior Center and she was an avid Detroit Tigers fan.
Survivors include her children Wanda & James Grover of Sanford, David Strickland of Coleman, daughter-in-law Trena Strickland of Loomis, 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Shirley Carlton of Oakley, several nieces and nephews. Maxine was also preceded in death by her sons Larry and Erwin Strickland, daughters-in-law Eileen and Karen Strickland and her brother Junior Carlton.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday January 28, 2025 at the O’Laughlin Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. Lisa Kelley officiating. Burial will take place in the Warren Township Cemetery, Coleman. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday
from 2-4 & 6-8pm and on Tuesday starting at 10 am until the time of services.
