Ronald Dean Rellinger, 74 of Coleman passed at home, his family by his side, on Thursday, May 16, 2024 after a short battle with cancer. Ronald was born June 26, 1949 to Harold and Mary (Miller) Rellinger who predeceased him. He is survived by his loving wife, Christie, they were married November 8, 1969 in Biloxi, Mississippi, together they shared over 54 years of good times and bad times.
Ron is survived by one daughter Aimee Rellinger Hackett, Coleman. Two sisters, Carla (Suzanne Beeche) Rellinger of Coleman and Judith Havens of Harrison. A grandson Jason of Clare and a Great Granddaughter. Brother-in-law Roger (Barbara) Smith and sister-in-law Lonna (Keith) Cozat. Also, several nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by a brother-in-law, Rick Havens.
Ronald served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1973 as an Aircraft and Ground Radar technician (30352), having reached the rank of Sergeant. In March 1972 he had the great honor of being chosen Airman of the Month of the 667th AC&W Squadron, Hofn Air Station, Iceland. Ronald was a State of Michigan licensed Master Electrician and electrical contractor and wrote fiction and science fiction novels.
Ron’s work was his happy place, retiring from Thomas Trombley Electric where he worked for and with his longtime friend Tom. He enjoyed hunting deer and turkey with his sister Carla. Always busy doing something, he could fix or build anything electronic. After retirement he started experimenting with hydroponic gardening, growing lettuce, carrots and other roots vegetables.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday May 20, 2024 at the O’Laughlin Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Lisa Kelley officiating. Burial will take place in the Warren Township Cemetery, Coleman. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-6 pm and on Monday starting at 10 am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Coleman Historical Society and/or the Coleman Veterans Memorial.
