Harvey “Gene” Robinson, 90, of Coleman died unexpectedly, Friday February 2, 2024 at MyMichigan Medical Center, Midland. He was born June 9, 1933 in Yardell, Arkansas the son of the late Leonard & Donna (Waters) Robinson. Gene married Dorothy M. Gorsuch June 20, 1958 in Breckenridge.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Gene owned and operated Gene’s Truck Sales in Coleman, starting in 1974. He was involved in his community, serving on the City Council starting in 1978 and was the Mayor of Coleman from 1986 until retiring in 2014.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Coleman, children: Jennifer & Marshall Haskell of Kewadin, Gregory & Jodie Robinson of Clare, Joy & Martin Kleinhardt of Clare, grandchildren: Jennifer & Jeff Thompson, Lauren Manderbach, Adalie & Jonathan Harper, Amber & Jake Wendt, great-grandchildren: Kenzie, Matthew, River, Hayden, Trace, brother Buddy L. Robinson, several nieces and nephews. Gene was also preceded in death by his grandson Jeffrey Haskell, brothers Louis Robinson, Estes Robinson, sisters Garnet Jones and Mavis Hoyt.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday February 6, 2024 at the Brown Corners Church, 5540 S. Clare Avenue, Clare, MI 48617, with Pastor Jeremiah Ketchum officiating. Burial will take place in the Warren Township Cemetery, Coleman. Friends may call at the O’Laughlin Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm and at the church on Tuesday starting at 10 am until the time of services. Memorials are suggested to The Gideons International.
